In an exciting partnership, the first event at the 2017 Sir Walter Miler on Friday, August 4th has now been announced. “Citius Mag presents the Raleigh Denim Mile” will join the Men’s and Women’s Elite Miles, and the Run Club 4×400 meter relay. The blue jean mile has been gaining a lot of momentum this Spring, and the partnership with Citius Mag and Raleigh Denim was a no brainer to present our version of that event.

Bringing you a deluge of running takes, humor, podcasts, news, and general content, Citius Mag is the latest website in the running media ecosystem. And the Denim Mile is its baby. The rules of engagement are simple: it’s a plain old mile race, but all competitors must wear blue jeans instead of shorts/halftights/buns/etc.

“We hope to one day see a world class time run in blue jeans, and the Raleigh Denim Mile at the Sir Walter Miler is the first step in cementing this silly, silly event as a viable and financially lucrative race,” said Citius Mag’s Paul Snyder, who is also the artist behind the “Sir Walter Runner” Microsoft Paint portrait, and the new “Sir Walter Raleigh Denim.” Citius Mag will offer special shirts to the top seven men and women’s finishers, as well as $100 to the Men’s and Women’s Winner.

Raleigh Denim is the brainchild of Sarah and Victor Lytvinenko, and the premiere denim brand on the East Coast. They will be providing a pair of Raleigh Denims to the Men’s and Women’s Winner as well. Entry to the event is $25 and open to the public. Registration is here.
