5 Things About Me: Charlize-Trinity McKenzie

  1. I’m originally from Wisconsin. I grew up at a young age in the country where my family started a healing foundation for children with trauma and grave illness.
  2. I completed all of my high school graduation requirements in 3 years so that I could ditch the brutal Wisco winters for a gap year here in North Carolina doing service work, taking college courses, and studying a language.
  3. Journaling, late-night movies, and singing are some of my hobbies. My little sister and I get very competitive on game nights – UNO and SORRY! are our favorites!
  4. Sir Walter Miler is the last race of my high school career before I leave for Princeton in just a few days. I couldn’t be more grateful and excited… but I will miss beautiful North Carolina and its weather.
  5. I’m always on the hunt for a cute coffee or tea shop. I’m addicted to matcha lattes!

5 Fast Questions

  1. What is a movie or show you have seen lately that others should tune into? Outer Banks is such a good show for the summer! There is a new season coming out soon. Plus, I live here now, so I plan to take a visit before I head to Princeton.
  2. What is a book or podcast that is worth checking out? “The Running Effect” is one of the newer podcasts that I find myself listening to a lot!
  3. What is your “Song of the Summer?” “Off the Wall” – Michael Jackson
  4. When you’re not training, what’s one of your favorite activities? Over this past year, I’ve been volunteering in the Queen City, Charlotte, which has been rewarding! It’s more than fulfilling to serve others!
  5. Do you have any connections to Raleigh and/or North Carolina? While I’m still pretty new to North Carolina, I’ve met quite a few friends through my mentor and coach, former Olympian Anthony Famiglietti, who has a running group called Reckless Running! He also takes the time to help kids with disabilities through running, and that’s inspiring.
