Meet the Band: Braden & Brother
Braden & Brother | @BradenBrother | Live Music
Braden & Brother is a Carrboro-based folk band consisting primarily of the brothers Allen and Brady Lawrence. Before they started writing songs together, they both ran cross country at Broughton High School in Raleigh, where between them, they helped win the schools first four team state titles. Check out their music on Bandcamp here
Braden & Brother will play a set before and after the races, starting at 7:30pm. Weather pending, they’ll be playing right outside at Raleigh Brewing Company, where we’ll have food trucks, and the “Sub 4 ABV Challege” as well. More info is here. They’ll also be playing at Tir Na Nog, in downtown Raleigh on Tuesday, July 15th, as part of their “Beer & Banjos” series.
5 Things About Us: Braden & Brother
-
Braden & Brother recorded their first demo as one of Brady’s school projects while studying at UNC Chapel Hill. Allen studies there now.
-
The band’s first ever show was a Battle of the Bands at He’s Not Here, which they won! The voting may or may not have been rigged. We’ll never tell.
-
When not writing songs about a dystopian future where the polar ice caps have melted or lamenting the fragments of their broken hearts the band members enjoy distance running, mountain biking and rock climbing.
-
They are currently in the process of recording their first full-length album which you will be able to hear live if you come to the after party!
-
Both brothers managed to run sub 4:30 in the mile in high school, but soon after hung up their spikes and picked up acoustic instruments, because that was fast enough to impress people at parties.
