5 Things About Me: Krissy Gear
- I feel like because I got most of my “clout” in the running world for my 1500m/mile performances my last two years at Arkansas, most people don’t realize I’ve done the steeple in some capacity since my freshman year in 2018. I’m not as new to it as people presume.
- Outside of running I serve as a Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA) for Coconino County, where I get to work with and help advocate for children currently in foster care.
- I seem to have an inclination for finding my home in F cities— Fort Myers, FL, Fayetteville, AR, and Flagstaff, Arizona. The other two places I’ve lived are G cities: born in Gainesville, FL and spent two and a half years where I started college in Greenville, SC.
- I have one dog (Oats) who is the center of my universe. I’ve been saying I’m going to get her a friend for almost three years now, but life just hasn’t wanted to open that door for me just yet. But it’s okay because my roommate has a dog also so I feel like he’s my adopted son too. They are the best of friends.
- I used to have my solo skydive license— I’d really like to get back into it one day!
5 Fast Questions
- Do you have any superstitions/pre-race rituals? Not really! I guess the closest I’d say I get to “rituals” would be I really like to run with my little orange butterfly clips in my hair in some fashion and also I pray before (usually with teammate(s) if I’m fortunate enough to have any in my race!)
- What’s your favorite sport (or athlete) to watch, besides running? I don’t have a particular team or athlete I feel loyal to but I do love going to baseball games! It’s always such a fun environment.
- What’s a show or movie you’ve seen lately that’s worth watching? Oh I’m not really a big movie/tv in general fan, just because of my pea sized attention span. I watched this show called Devilman Crybaby a couple months ago that is admittedly a bit dark but I really enjoyed it!
- What’s a song or podcast that’s currently on your playlist? Spotify is telling me my top played song this month is an old throwback “Famous Last Words” by My Chemical Romance
- Do you have any connections to Raleigh or North Carolina? Just a lot of good people and friends that I know that live or are from here! :)
