5 Things About Me: Amaris Tyynismaa

  1. Before running for NC State, I ran for the University of Alabama for 3 1/2 years.
  2. Some people may not know that I was a military brat for most of my life. I’ve lived in England, Virginia, California, Alabama and North Carolina :). My dad retired a few years ago after serving for 27 years in the Air Force.
  3. My clothing style could be described as bohemian.
  4. I really like the artist Shaboozey. My favorite songs are “Anabelle” and “Vegas”. Check him out!
  5. I have a collection of sweatshirts in different colors from The Mayfair Group that all say Empathy on them. Not only are they cute but they spread a message to remind people to hopefully be empathetic. I like to spread a little love where I can :).

5 Fast Questions

  1. What is your go-to training shoe? My go-to shoes are whatever my team provides for me ;)
  2. What’s your favorite cross training activity? I like the underwater treadmill and swimming.
  3. What’s a show, movie, or podcast that everyone should check out? People should go check out the COFFEE CLUB podcast.
  4. If I weren’t a runner, I’d mostly likely be… I’d most likely be… a soccer player. :)
  5. Do you have any connections to Raleigh and/or North Carolina? I was born in Goldsboro, North Carolina. My dad was an NC State alumni. I competed for NC State my senior/5th year and was a part of their 2023 National Championship team. Last outdoor season, I won my first ACC title in the 5k on our home track which was special for me.
