2020 Sir Walter Miler Cancelled

Due to North Carolina staying in Phase 2 through at least September 11th, we have chosen to cancel the 2020 Sir Walter Miler. While we will miss seeing everyone, we will look forward to putting on the Sir Walter Miler that you’ve grown to love, in full force, in 2021.

Should conditions improve later this Fall, we are not ruling out putting on another event, but more than likely will look forward to more events in the Olympic year of 2021.

The Mission Statement of Sir Walter Running is and has always been to “Bring the Greater Raleigh running community together through innovation, activation, and inclusivity.” We plan to continue this mission, whether virtual, or in person!

  • So sorry to miss Sir Walter Miler 2020. It is wonderful for our city to be the home of The Mile.
I interviewed Marty Liquori last week about the 1971 Dream Mile in The Martin Luther King Jr. Freedom Games at Franklin Field– almost 50 years ago. I was there as a 14-year-old track fan to watch Liquori hold off then-WR holder, Jim Ryun in 3:54.6. The Sir Walter Miler has bettered that time more than once!!! Thanks Sandy and the crew for all the excitement. Peace and Blessings, Patrick O’Neill
