5 Things About Me: Amanda LoPiccolo

  1. I gave birth to my energetic son Owen last July, after having run throughout my whole pregnancy up until the day before he was born.

  2. I work as the team Chiropractor for Duke Track and Field and recently opened my own Chiropractic office inside of Cary Flow Yoga. You can check out my website at www.amandalopiccolo.com or find me on Facebook and Twitter.

  3. My husband, Matt, is an Assistant Track and Field Coach at Duke and he has been training me since 2006.

  4. I was born and raised in Upstate New York. I attended Unatego High School where I won a State Championship in the 3,000m my senior year. I went on to Ithaca College and New York Chiropractic College, graduating summa cum laude from both.

  5. I wish I could survive off of only peanut butter, ice cream and Dunkin’ Donuts iced coffee.

  • I am honored to call Amanda my friend because:
    1. While living in NY, though she was undoubtedly the best runner in our area and had many national accomplishments under her belt, she passed her knowledge to us common folk by teaching a running class to semi-beginners at our local YMCA.
    2. I had been running less than a year when I met her in 2011. Needless to say, I didn’t know much about anything! From day 1 she has always shown me unconditional patience, guidance, and support as I learn about the ebbs and flows of running.
    3. As driven and competitive as she may be, she is humble and understanding enough to realize the seemingly minor accomplishments of those that she has mentored…myself included;)
    4. She’s a fighter! She goes after what she wants with power, drive, and determination to reach the highest of standards while always maintaining her dignity.
    5. She’s brilliant, supportive, stunning, humble, fierce, and above all else….loves ice-cream! What more could you want in a friend?
