Cydney Ross joins us from New Jersey, where she runs for the New Jersey New York Track Club. But she’s no stranger to the Triangle. Cydney competed collegiately for Duke, where she was a multiple time NCAA All American, and was the ACC Champion in the 800 meters in 2013 both indoors and out.
6 Things About Me: Cydney Ross
-
I’ve been hit by 2 cars in my life. I walked away from both accidents, scot free.
-
In my senior year of high school, I dropped my 800 pr from 2:15 to 2:07.1 and burst onto the scene winning the 800 at the Junior National Championships.
-
I’m originally from St. Louis, Missouri, which means I have a fondness for toasted ravioli, gooey butter cake, Ted Drewe’s frozen custard, and the Arch.
-
In 2011, my heel was clipped in the NCAA 800m finals and I ran the last 250m with 1 shoe! I finished in 8th place, but there was no way I wasn’t finishing that race.
-
I live in New Jersey where I train with the New Jersey*New York Track Club and under the famous (or infamous) Frank “Gags” Gagliano. I truly believe that I have the best training group and coach in the nation and I am so grateful for the opportunity that I have to represent NJ*NY.
-
I ran my first mile ever during the indoor season this year. I rolled around in a ball writhing in pain for 15 minutes after the race, I’m hoping for a better experience this time around.
