2019 Initial Sir Walter Miler Elite Women’s Field Announced

July 16, 2019 – Raleigh, North Carolina – Sir Walter Running is excited to announce the initial Women’s Elite Field for the 2019 Sir Walter Miler, which will be held in its traditional First Friday spot of Friday, August 2, 2019. Elite Women’s Coordinator, Jeff Caron, stopped by the Summer of Miles podcast to chat about the field on Friday.

“Now in our 6th year, we’ve created some lasting relationships with the athletes that keep wanting to come back year after year. We’re excited to have three past Sir Walter Miler Champions in the field (Heidi See, Stephanie Garcia, and Lauren Johnson), and 8 total alumni, that have helped us build this event into what it is today. Our athletes have continued to share stories about the experiences they’ve had through this event, the strong relationships they’ve made with their host families, and the overall connection they now have with the Raleigh community,” said Caron.

In addition to the strong Women’s field, Sir Walter Running is excited to announce Carrie Tollefson as the onfield announcer at the event. Tollefson represented the United States in the 2004 Olympic Games in Athens, Greece, and now hosts the popular C Tolle Run podcast, along with a busy broadcasting schedule.

“Carrie has incredible energy and we’re excited to have her in Raleigh to help further improve the delivery of the event,” said Sir Walter Miler Co-Founder, Pat Price. “She was also the 29th American to break the 4:30 barrier, which is one of our goals for the athletes each year. Since our debut in 2014, no race has had more Americans break the barrier for the first time, and there’s no one better than Carrie to help tell that story.”
